Golden Slipper Camp for Boys and Girls

Theatre

Each summer, Golden Summer Camp presents two musical stage productions, one during each encampment, and everyone is invited to join in. From Grease and Guys & Dolls to Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat and West Side Story, we help campers participate in a theatrical extravaganza.

Children and teens of all ages may choose theater as an optional elective and may audition and participate in the performance. Because it takes weeks to prepare, rehearse, and ready the stage, this elective is a more intensive one, expanding over 2 or 3 weeks, versus the customary one. Students who love theater will enjoy this immersion.

Producing a musical play takes a lot of work. Yes, we need actors and actresses, singers and dancers. We also need a production crew. So if your son or daughter would rather be backstage than on-stage, we've got lots of options -- set building and staging, sound and light, props, costumes, and much more.

Our drama instructor conducts the auditions, casts the show, edits the script to the appropriate length, does the blocking, teaches the music, and oversees the rehearsals and the final production. Then it's show time at the outdoor Blum Amphitheater, complete with a stage and lights, and the entire Golden Slipper Camp community turns out for the big night.
