Our Daily Schedule

A Typical Day at Golden Slipper Camp...

7:45am Wake Up and Wash Up
(Unless it's raining, then we have an extra half-hour to sleep-in.)
8:15am Flagpole
The entire camp community gathers to raise the flag and welcome a new day.
8:20am Breakfast
9:00am Clean up
Campers and counselors return to their cabins for clean up, inspection, and to prepare for the day's activities.
9:30am 1st Morning Activity
Group-based activity; instructional swim for some groups.
10:30am 2nd Morning Activity
Individual free choice: campers choose an activity and receive extra instruction in that area. Counselors accompany campers.
11:30am 3rd Morning Activity
Group-based activity; instructional swim for some groups.
12:45pm Lunch
1:30pm Rest Hour
Kids are encouraged to rest, read, and write letters home. They may also play quiet games or listen to music.
2:30pm 1st Afternoon Activity, with Cabin group.
3:25pm 2nd Afternoon Activity, with Cabin group.
4:20pm Afternoon Snack
Mid-afternoon snack, which may include milk, cookies, fruit, or an occasional chocolate bar.
4:30pm 3rd Afternoon Activity, with Cabin group.
5:30pm Bunk Time
All campers and staff return to their bunks for showers.
6:15pm Flagpole
We lower the flag to signify the end on another great day at camp.
6:20pm Dinner
7:45pm Evening Program
Organized by village and may include a game, carnival, treasure hunt, etc., or "bunk night." There are also a number of camp-wide special events and programs each encampment.
9:00pm Friends & Taps
We end the day by joining hands and singing our evening song, celebrating friendship, followed by a trumpet performance of "Taps."
9:15pm Snack and Bedtime
Around 9:15pm, we serve an evening snack (milk and cookies) and we begin tucking in our younger campers. Times vary with age groups and ending times of evening programs, but generally everyone is in bed by 10:00pm
